'09 I didn't really post anything. However, lately, I've been a (relative)
posting machine. This is thanks, in large part, to my new iPod Touch! (www.apple.com)
WIFI Rocks!
Ok, so I know that we're all posting about Twitter, and I know that I can't
post anything original - but those being said, here goes:
Twitter and Iran:
At first, this captivated me! New media's approach to the conflict was
liberating (pardon the pun) and innovative. I was caught up in the spirit
- I changed my background to green - and the RTing. However, while I
understand that the conflict continues, I also find that the RTs have
become incessant! Also, people are throwing in advertising links or much,
much worse (don't ask!). What has been my best source of news throughout
this conflict? Twitter? Not by a long shot... I've been reading cnn.com
and cbc.ca for most of my news. It all boils down to integrity and
accountability. CNN (somewhat) and CBC are held accountable for what they
post. @someguy or @iranlover aren't accountable to squat - and as such,
they can post some wacky stuff - "1,000s killed in skirmish with gov't
troops." Fight on #iranelection" or "US bombs Iranian orphans
#iranelection", they send whatever suits them!
Advantage: old media
Twitter and the Mafia:
STOP SENDING ME INFO ABOUT YOUR STUPID GAME, I DON'T GIVE A $HIT!
That is all.
Advantage: Seriously, stop sending them - instant unfollow!
Twitter and Friends:
Other than my wife - who hasn't posted in weeks -, my sister ( @Elspeth14 - oops) and an old friend from
Ottawa ( @nickcharney ), I have no direct friends on Twitter. That's not
to say that I haven't enjoyed making new friends, it just means that my
current network aren't twitterites. I still get a lot of love on Facebook
(in fact, my mom and dad recently joined....
Advantage: Facebook - for now...
That's enough for now - I'll write more soon...
